Chris Heaton Harris - Report on Libraries & Bus Services

Whilst I completely understand the financial pressure the County Council finds itself under, I do not believe the proposals to limit local bus services and close libraries in Moulton, Earls Barton, Weedon & Long Buckby are sensible and will therefore be supporting the residents in these matters.

That said, I strongly believe everyone should take part in the consultation that is taking place, if only to demonstrate the level of support locally for our libraries and bus services.

You can do this in a number of ways:

Online Survey:
In writing: Draft Budget and Council Plan Consultation, Northamptonshire County Council, One Angel Square, Northampton, NN1 1ED
Social media: tweeting @mycountycouncil or posting comments on the county council's Facebook page

Please note that this consultation ends at 5pm on the 13th January.

Furthermore, a public meeting will be held in each district council area across the two budget consultation phases. Details of the date and venue will be posted on Northamptonshire County Council's website.

In regards to library services, I'm well aware that we might need a 'plan B' if the County Council decide to continue with library closures post the consultation and I have met with and am working with the local action groups who have contacted me on this.

Last Friday, I met with members of the 'Save Moulton Library' group to discuss cuts to their funding and joined my local library.
