Moulton Cemetery - Today

During the past few years, many improvements have taken place to make the cemetery the beautiful, tranquil space it is today. The internal hedges have been reduced and the lime trees pollarded to improve the light. Block paving has been laid, new entrance gates hung and the old garage removed to provide better access for all. The Scattered Ashes Area has been built in the oldest part of the cemetery to accommodate requests from non residents. A third area has been prepared for a further Garden of Rest. Memorial testing takes place regularly and new signage installed.

The most significant advance is the complete computerisation of every burial, plot purchase and memorial to form a comprehensive database and cemetery plan. This was a six year project and the original burial books will now be stored at the Northamptonshire Record Office for safe keeping. AG INTL were commissioned in November 2024 to undertake a survey and mapping exercise in Moulton Cemetery, Moulton Churchyard and Carey Baptist Churchyard. This is a mammoth project and will provide us with a digitised record of all burials in Moulton. It will enable residents, past and present to search for ancestors and give us a much-improved database for Moulton Cemetery. Photographs of every headstone and memorial in the Cemetery have been taken and AG INTL are busy collating all the information. The information will be fully accessible online via our website. We must thank both Moulton Church and Carey Baptist Church for working with us on this project and for allowing access to the graves. We will continue to work with Northamptonshire Family History Society to provide a comprehensive guide of memorial inscriptions for all sites.

We must thank John Linnell, who has taken care of our cemetery since February 2009. John's care, dedication and sheer hard work is remarkable and anyone who visits the cemetery can see the results of his efforts. At the end of November 2024, we said goodbye to John who has looked after our cemetery for 49 years and has decided to finally retire! John has kept the cemetery looking first class for all these years and we shall miss him terribly. Thank you, John, for your years of love, care and dedication to Moulton Cemetery. Prestige Landscapes will now continue to look after our cemetery
